Investing on Sanibel & Captiva Island
The islands of Sanibel & Captiva honestly do not attract your typical "big time investors" like the beaches of Miami and Tampa do. And we like that way! Don't get us wrong, we fully support investing in real estate property, and think it's one of the best ways to invest your money.
However, the typical "investors" we see on Sanibel are ones who have been here on vacation themselves, appreciate the uniqueness of our relaxed barrier island, and decide to invest in island property.
Types of Sanibel Investors
We like to think there are three types of investors that take interest in Sanibel and Captiva Island.
- All About Profit - Those who purchase a daily or weekly rental condo unit and use the property strictly as a rental income producing unit.
- Let's Break Even - Those who want to come and visit the island occasionally, or are maybe retiring here in a few years and just want to break even on their mortgage payment.
- Let's Visit Often - Those who plan to visit the island more often and are open to renting their property when unoccupied.
We could add a fourth type of investor who might wish to purchase vacant land for building in the future, or a fifth type, the commercial property investor, but those are less common, as their are not too many vacant lots and commercial real estate properties available on Sanibel & Captiva Island.
Below, you'll find a few articles we have written about investing on island. You might also be interested in checking out our resource page for becoming a vacation landlord on Sanibel (click here).
