SCCF, CROW, F.I.S.H., the Sea School, our churches, the list of local non-profit organizations goes on and on (click here to read more about our non-profits and memberships on island). We love each and every one of our non-profits on island, a couple of which have close ties to our hearts. That is the Sanibel Christian Pre-School, SCCF, and UnitedWay.
Why These Three?
Well, the Sanibel Christian Preschool was founded by our local church, and Jim and I actually helped with the planning and development of the preschool back in 2013. What’s so great about the pre-school is that it’s not only for Sanibel residents, but also children whose parents live off-island but work on-island. The program provides scholarships funding for families who need financial assistance in providing their children with a great education and convenient care facility.
Why, SCCF? Why not is a better question! The organization’s efforts to preserve our island is what makes Sanibel so unique from other coastal cities in Florida, and why so many want to live/visit here. It’s almost as if SCCF has been entrusted to hold the community torch that early island residents established. They are an important guardian of our history, and more importantly caregivers for the future of our island’s ecology and ecosystems.
Finally, the United Way has been a big part of my life since 2009. In fact, I served on the allocations committee for eight years, helping the United Way of Lee and Collier Counties determine funding needs for our communities. The United Way helps multiple causes including scholarships for children and families in financial need, help for the elderly in our community and also our veterans.
Each of these organizations have had an impact on our lives, which is why we make an effort to donate to these causes, amongst the other great non-profits on island. And now, we also give YOU a chance to donate to them, through us!
Your Referrals Make A Difference!
Did you know, that for every friend, family member, co-worker, stranger, etc. that you refer to us, we donate a portion of our income from their home sale to one of three local non-profits listed above? You get to choose which one you prefer we give. I know, that’s the tough part.
But the easy part is providing a name and phone number of your friend or family member who is thinking about purchasing a home here on island, or even a current resident of Sanibel who might be thinking of selling their island home.
Now, we’re not suggesting you go trying to convince your whole family to move here, though Facebook photos of the beach can help with that if you are… ?. But we are asking that you keep us in mind if you hear someone is looking at buying or selling on island.
Have someone in mind? Feel free to email, call or text me with their name, phone number and email address. As always, it’s my pleasure to help make a smooth transition to and from our islands.
