Kate on the McCallion team was super responsive and knowledgeable. She did not hesitate to enthusiastically assist with any issue that we encountered in the sale of our Fort Myers condo. We highly recommend Kate and look forward to working with her in the future.

Susan McCallion’s Previous Experience
Originally from Manchester, Connecticut I grew up working in my parent’s Real Estate office. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Connecticut – Go Huskies! then moved to South Florida upon Graduation.
In Miami, I dedicated my professional career to leading non-profit dropout prevention program, Communities in Schools of Miami (CIS). As the President and CEO of CIS, it was my privilege to oversee the organization grow from serving 140 school kids to working with over 6,000 school children. I managed a budget of over $3 million, 15 staff members, 40 full-time VISTA and AMERICORPS Volunteers and over 200 non-paid volunteers. Our program had a big impact on high school graduation rates and many continued on to college. For me, this experience was life changing, memorable and rewarding.
When Jim and I were expecting our third child, I decided to retire from CIS and begin part-time consulting providing technical guidance and coaching to over 100 RE/MAX agents at my parents’ company. (At that time, they had 8 RE/MAX franchises in New England.)
I have always loved real estate and moving to Sanibel provided me the opportunity to make it my career. I’m very committed to my family and community; and love to be actively working helping others. Real Estate allows me to focus on what I value. I love Sanibel and Captiva Islands so very much and enjoy helping others realize their dreams of living here on our Islands.
Our Move to Sanibel Island
My love of Sanibel started almost 20 years ago when Jim proposed to me here on the Island. Living in fast-paced Miami, we relished our annual vacations to Sanibel, dreaming of someday retiring on the Island. After Jim sold his company, we visited Sanibel, and as we sat on the beach watching our children playing in the sand, we asked ourselves: “Why wait? Where would be better for raising our kids than on a sub-tropical resort island?” (that happens to have one of the best schools in the state!) Four months later, we sold our Miami house and had moved into our new home on the island.
Since then, we’ve had our fourth child and our three older children attend The Sanibel School. Together, our whole family enjoys the richness of Sanibel Island living – swimming, playing in the sand, fishing, boating, watching birds and wildlife from our porch, biking, hiking trails, and the list goes on. Living here on the Islands is full of incredible experiences for all of us.
There is such a strong sense of community on the island. Folks look out for one another; kids can ride bikes and play in the neighborhood. Island friends get together for beach outings. Conservation Groups organize Bird and Beach Walks. There are loads of arts and entertainment opportunities at Big Arts and The Big Arts Herbert Strauss Theatre and the Community House has scores of activities for both the young and the young-at-heart. Lots of fun for all ages.
For our family, moving to Sanibel has been one of the best decisions we have ever made.
