On the west end of Sanibel, The Sanctuary Golf Club sits on 465-acres of lush green tropical landscape. Nestled between the Wulfert Channel and J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, the Sanctuary holds true to its name as a scenic and serene golf course community.
About The Course
The only private golf course on Sanibel, the 18-hole course spans 6,655 yards, winding through nature preserves and lakes, and proving scenic views of the Pine Island Sound. Designed by Arthur Hills in 1992, the course is a 72 par course with a 72.8 rating, with the following accolades:
- Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary since 2003
- Platinum Club of America since 2009
- Emerald Club Award since 2010 (1 of 2 in the US)
- Golf World Top 25 Golf Shops since 2010 (in the US)

About The Club
The same beauty from the golf course extends to the Sanctuary clubhouse, wellness center, and sports courts. The clubhouse offers both casual and fine dining. The 5,000 SqFt. wellness center includes cardio and strength training equipment, a dedicated stretching room, room for pilates and other fitness courses, massage therapy rooms and locker rooms. And don’t forget about the heated lap pool, four tennis courts, four pickleball courts, and two bocce ball courts.
Becoming A Member
The Sanctuary Golf Club is truly a unique Member-owned Club offering a premier equity membership as well as a social membership. You do not have to live in the Sanctuary Community to become a member. But you should contact the club for membership details, pricing, and availability. From experience, we know there is usually a waitlist at least for the social membership.
The Sanctuary is a casually elegant private club with an exceptional golf course, delicious dining options, friendly social gatherings, top-notch fitness facilities all surrounded by the natural beauty of Sanibel Island.
