Did you know there’s Lakefront living on Sanibel Island?
In fact, there are multiple types of waterfront properties on Sanibel… there’s beachfront/Gulf-front, bayfront, canal-front, and lakefront!
Jim and I happen to live on a lake! We describe what lakefront living on Sanibel Island is like in the video below (also linked on Youtube here).
Why Lakefront?
As Jim mentions in the video, Sanibel lakefront homes boast some of these benefits:
- Scenic views from inside and outside
- Stunning sunsets and sunrises
- Frequent wildlife sightings
- Peaceful/serene atmosphere
- Cool breezes from the lake
- Oftentimes more affordable than Gulf-front, bayfront, or canal-front
The Downside of Lakefront Living
Of course, there are some drawbacks to lakefront living on Sanibel Island. The main drawback for most people would be the fact that there are more wildlife sightings, including alligators.
Knowing this, most lakefront homeowners have either fenced-off or made it a rule to not allow anyone (especially kids and pets) near the shoreline. Our kids grew up on our lakefront property and have a very healthy respect for wildlife because of this.
