At times, a candle flame blows out and is rekindled by the spark from another.
That is how we might describe the past year. Aside from the hurricane that destroyed much of the place we call home, we experienced hardships in other areas of our life. It’s safe to say that these tough times temporarily blew out the flame in our candle.
But as the saying goes, our wick has been reignited by the love and support of not just one “flame” but of the spark from our entire community of friends, family, and neighbors.
Taking Time To Give Thanks
This sign found in the hurricane debris pile speaks volumes. Whoever put this out, Thank You! The best way to stay positive in a tough situation is to count your blessings, and we have much to be thankful for:
- Our Family
- Our Community
- Our Health
- Our Home
- Our Business
- and YOU!
Just to name a few.
We are so very thankful for all of the words of encouragement and offers to assist our family and our business during this time. Let’s not forget all of the people working around the clock to rebuild Southwest Florida!
A Story Of Kindness
I was sitting behind one of the HUGE debris hauler trucks at the end of the long day of ripping drywall from our home. The truck was trying to turn around at one of our small island intersections and needed me to back up. The five cars behind me seemed oblivious to the situation. As the truck driver hopped out of the vehicle I braced for lots of hand gestures and yelling for me to “move lady!”
To my surprise, one of the workers who saw the situation unfold took charge with gentle kindness saying, “It’s okay, it’s okay! I will help get these cars behind you moved so that we can get turned around. We’re all working long hard hours.” He said. “We’re all in this together.”
A wave of emotion hit me at that moment. I was overwhelmed by the grace and kindness this gentleman displayed. He is out here working long, hard hours for a community that he likely has no ties to. And he’s spreading peace and love while doing it. It was a very touching experience that I thought many of you would appreciate when wondering “how things are going?” with the recovery efforts.
Happy Thanksgiving!
As we sit down for a moment to gather our thoughts, Jim and I (and our entire team) want to express our gratitude for your continued support. You have helped to keep our candle burning strong, and for that, we are thankful.
We wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving and a joyful start to the holidays!
