Meet Our "Community Match Maker"
Hi! I’m Kate Helman, a die-heart New England sports fan, golfing fanatic, and Realtor® here in Southwest Florida.
Like many, I am a transplant Floridian, born in the Hudson Valley of New York where I enjoyed the beautiful Catskill mountains for many years. I met my wonderful husband, Mark, while working at a TV station while in college in New England. Together we have two dogs, two adult sons, and a brand-new daughter-in-law! (Oh, and two grand-dogs, can’t forget the grand-dogs.)
For sixteen amazing years, I worked in Special Education, assisting high need/low functioning kids with academic and social needs. Let me say, those were some of the most rewarding years in my career. I loved playing with the kids and learned so much along the way.
Happiness is a long walk with a putter!
I was first introduced to Sanibel Island by my mother in 1981, and couldn’t wait to bring my husband to Southwest Florida when we started dating. Of course, he fell in love with the area, and after receiving 9 feet of snow one cold winter in Massachusetts, we decided it was time to migrate south!
The uncrowded beaches, the gorgeous sunsets, the unique seashells, and wildlife - what’s not to love about this area? There is always something new to discover. My passion for photography, which started with our kid's baseball games, now captures the beauty of the beaches and wildlife I see everyday.
I enjoy serving as a docent in the Sanibel Historical Village and spending any and all of my free time on the greens. In fact, there’s nothing I like more than to be on the golf course, and there are several fantastic courses here in Southwest Florida!
Each city here in Southwest Florida has its own unique set of traits and characteristics. There’s something for everyone, it’s just a matter of finding the right community!
