Historically, March and April have been the busiest month’s for real estate closings on island. This usually correlates with the influx of visitors we have during the winter months who find the home they love, put it under contract, and then close about one to two months later.
However, this year, we saw fewer number of closings in March in April, which left us scratching our head for May. As it turns out, May was busier than ever!
There were 42 Single Family homes and 22 Condos that closed on Sanibel and Captiva Island between May 1- May 31, 2019. That’s a 49% increase in the number of homes sold from last May 2018, which is why we’ve dubbed it, May Madness!
