As summer draws closer and the school year winds down, we thought it would be helpful to provide a list of some of the Summer Camps happening on Sanibel this year. Note that this list is not all inclusive, and we will be updating the information periodically as we learn about more activities.
Sanibel Summer Camps for 2015 include:
Big Arts – The BIG ARTS Summer Arts Camp offers weekly sessions from June 15 to August 10. Activities include photography, painting, filmmaking, glass fusing, jewelry-making, dance, and drawing. The Sanibel Recreation Center – Youth Summer Day Camp is a traditional day camp, held 11 weeks starting Monday, June 8th and running through Friday, August 21. Camp is for children entering 1st – 8th grade. Activities include swimming, arts & crafts, athletics and a variety of games from 8:00am – 5:00pm (Monday – Friday). The Sea School – This sea-focused camp features a new theme and activities each week. Camp starts June 15th for Little Ones (Age 4-6) and June 8th for ages 6-13. This camp is very popular and fills up incredibly fast. Activities include surfing, snorkeling, journaling, and very frequent beach time. The Captiva Island Yacht Club – The Junior Sailing Camp is back again, beginning June 15th-June 26th with the Beginner Session, and July 13th-25th for the 2nd Session. Programs are 5 or 10 days in duration (Monday-Friday) for those over the age of 8. Students will have sailing instruction, cool down lunchtime and kayaking instruction. Each Session will have between 10-12 students with 1 certified instructor and 2 trained assistants. The Sanibel Public Library – This is not a camp program, but Ms. Barb is soooo incredible at creating fun activities for elementary aged kids. This summer, she has the Summer Reading Program planned for Tuesdays, 3:00-4:00 pm. Special programs are scheduled for every Tuesday from June 3rd – July 29th for kids of all ages. The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club – The Junior Tennis Clinics will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at the Dunes Tennis Club. Clinics run 3:15-4:00 for students 10 years old and under, and 4:00-5:00pm for Juniors (Ages 10-14). To find out more, email Jean@blackwoodtennis.com or call 472-3522.
The Sanibel Community Church – Vacation Bible School is taking place from June 8th-12th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. – with dinner included. All kids are welcome – 3 years old through having just completed 5th grade. Activities include Bible stories, experiments, skits, music and missions.
