I know we’ve talked about our love for the Sanibel School, but I would be remiss to not mention our equal love and appreciation for the Sanibel Recreation Center!
Sanibel parents can relate…
- School ends at 2:10 pm but you’re in a meeting at work. No worries, your child can attend the after school program at the Sanibel Rec.
- School is out for the holiday, but you have work to do or errands to run. Sanibel Rec to the rescue with day camps not only in the Summer but on most holidays too!
- … And that’s not to mention the various sports programs available at the Rec to help drain some energy after school.
Sanibel Rec For Adults!
Bonus! The Rec Center isn’t just great for the kiddos. There are several adult programs too. While the offerings might change from year to year, or season to season rather, you can generally find the following programs offered at the Sanibel Rec Center:
- Zumba
- Cycling
- Pilates
- Interval training
- Sculpting
- Four types of yoga
- Four types of aerobics
- Adult softball
- Pick-up basketball
- Pick-up pickle-ball
- … and more!
There are also lessons for tennis, swimming, and other water fitness activites. Along with special events such as blood screenings and the mobile mammogram bus. And as if that wasn’t enough, the Sanibel Rec Center, of course, has a very nice fitness center for working out, and one of the only lap pools on island!
Sanibel Center 4 Life
What is the Sanibel Center 4 Life? I had the same question. It’s a program run by the City of Sanibel Recreation Department with the support of the Island Seniors, Inc. to help with the costs of health programs, seminars, travel, social gatherings, and special events.
I was browsing the latest Center 4 Life Newsletter and it’s jammed packed with gathering and events for islanders and even island visitors. I’m talking sunset socials, craft fairs, bike rides, talent shows, pot-lucks, line dancing, card games you name it! You can check out the latest newsletter on the Sanibel City’s website by clicking here.
Okay, I might sound like a big cheerleader for the Sanibel Recreation Center, but that’s because I believe it’s one of the top Rec Centers I’ve been apart of, and a strong addition to our island community. So, if you haven’t checked out the Sanibel Rec Center yet, well, you have no excuse now! I’ll see ya there!
