Did you see Susan featured in RSW Living, Regional Southwest Florida’s Lifestyle Magazine? She was selected as one of the “Women You Should Know – Ten Movers and Shakers in Southwest Florida.”
The article features Susan first amongst the other notable women in Southwest Florida, many of which are her friends and colleagues within the community.
The brief description sums up Susan as a true entrepreneur, having the entrepreneurial sprit and mindset imprinted in her DNA. It’s true, it runs in the family!
Did you know Susan’s mom and dad operated eight Re/Max offices in New England? In fact, when Susan was younger, she helped out at the real estate offices, answering phones, talking with the agents and taking in every bit of the fast-paced real estate industry up north.
However, there’s more to the story. Susan didn’t immediately jump into real estate after college. In fact, for years, Susan ran a non-profit dropout prevention program in Miami as President and Executive Director of Communities in School of Miami (CIS).
Susan talks very highly of her experience working at CIS, describing it as one of the most fulfilling career achievements. Besides helping the company grow from serving 140 high school students to more than 6,000 students, Susan describes her love for the mission of the organization, and how grateful she was to be able to reach out and make a visible difference within the community and the lives of the high school students.
It wasn’t until Susan and Jim started a family and moved over to the west coast of Florida that she decided to follow in the foot steps of her parents, starting her own real estate brokerage with her partner in crime. However, Susan and Jim didn’t want to open just any old real estate business. They wanted to build a unique non-traditional brokerage – one that focuses on the relationship with customers, clients and the island community.
It’s safe to say McCallion & McCallion Realty has since become another of Susan’s most fulfilling career decisions. Susan McCallion is certainly a “Woman You Should Know” here in Southwest Florida.
