Alert Notification Systems for Sanibel Island Residents
Unfortunately, Sanibel Island is not immune to public safety emergencies and severe weather events. We are, however, fortunate to have multiple notification systems in place to alert us when a potential threat occurs. Below we list the notification systems that Sanibel Island residents should consider signing up for online.
Sanibel Island Alert Notification Systems
Alert Lee – Sanibel
Alert Lee is the emergency notification system that Lee County utilizes to send mass alerts to businesses and residents. The alert system, powered by everbridge.net, enhances county officials’ ability to quickly distribute time-sensitive information for emergencies such as hurricanes, tornados, evacuations, and missing persons. By registering for AlertLee, you can receive alerts via phone call, text, and/or email. The system divides Lee County into seven municipalities, with Sanibel being one of them. City of Sanibel Announcements
The City of Sanibel has a mass email system that provides updates on weather emergencies, public safety concerns, road closures, city meetings, etc. The email service used to distribute the messages is called Constant Contact. Additional Sanibel Island Resources
SanCap Chamber of Commerce
The Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce will often re-distribute email updates provided by the City of Sanibel to those who have signed up to receive notifications from the chamber. Aside from emergency alerts, the chamber also distributes news related to our local economy, tourism, and social events. Stay in the know with their monthly “Island Happenings” email which includes a list of local events. Click here to visit the Chamber of Commerce website and learn more.
Our Local Nonprofits
Many of our local businesses and nonprofits also have email distribution lists with really great information about the island. Some of our favorite newsletters include Ding Darling’s, “Ding on the Wing”, and also SCCF’s email newsletter. Sanibel School parents, make sure you sign up for the Weekly Monday Reporter School News. Our local churches also have their own email distribution newsletters.
