There are three stellar golf course communities on Sanibel Island. The Dunes of Sanibel is the closest to the Causeway, located on the bayside east-end of the island. Although we ourselves are not golfers, we love The Dunes, and have many friends and family who speak highly of the golf course, including Kate Helman, our golf champion on the McCallion Team!
We Love The Dunes
Our family has a social membership to The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club. This membership gives us unlimited use of the pool, which our kids really enjoy. We also get a discount at the Dunes dining room and bar where we’ve always had great food and service!

About The Golf Course
Our expert golfer, Kate, shared with me that, “The Dunes is a short but challenging course. The wildlife and scenery perfectly capture the character of the island.”
I agree with Kate! The 18-hole golf course was recently renovated and looks amazing! We love to walk the path around the course, especially as the sun sets over the beautiful lakes and greens. There’s quite a bit of wildlife to see along the way.

Tennis, Pool & More!
While the golf course is a major draw for The Dunes, the other sports courts and amenities are just as nice! The tennis courts are usually busy with motivated players that we sit back and admire. There’s a great tennis summer camp program for kids too.
We mentioned the pool and restaurant, which we frequent often. There’s also a Pro Shop for golf and tennis. With beautiful grounds and scenery, the clubhouse also attracts a number of weddings and events each year. Plus, members can reserve the entertainment pavilion to host your own reunions and get-togethers.
The Community
The Dunes of Sanibel has just over 250 properties according to a tax tool used by the SanCap MLS. Most of the properties are single-family homes, but there are some vacant lots and a number of 1/2 duplexes that can be purchased in the Dunes.
