What do you love about Sanibel Island? Many love our unspoiled shell-lined beaches, while others enjoy our quaint island community. Some folks just want to get out on the water as quickly as possible! If this is you, you’ll enjoy the list of Sanibel Boating Communities we’ve pulled together to help you find the perfect place for you and your vessel.
Boating on Sanibel
When searching for boating communities on Sanibel Island, you’ll find that the east end of the island, as well as the far west end are your two best bets. While there are a number of Gulf Front properties mid-island, you will not find any boat docks leading in to the Gulf waters.
Instead, you should focus your search on the bay side of the island, or within neighborhoods that have canal access to the bay. For those living on the east end of Sanibel, you will likely access the Gulf via the San Carlos Bay. While those living on the west of the island will enter Pine Island Sound and use Blind Pass (between Sanibel & Captiva) or Redfish pass (between Captiva & North Captiva) to access the Gulf.
