About Sanibel and Captiva Island
Sanibel Island and Captiva Island are two barrier islands off the coast of Southwest Florida, near Fort Myers. Sanibel Island is roughly 12 miles long, and Captiva Island is only five miles, for a combined length of about 17 miles of paradise. Sanibel Island is a relatively large barrier island that’s three miles at its widest point, while Captiva is long and narrow, less than half a mile wide.
These two islands are home to everything you need to live a full life. You’ll find plenty of local restaurants, parks, shops and — of course — the beach! There’s no shortage of fun activities and sightseeing points to keep people of all ages entertained.
