We love The Dunes! Maybe we’re biased since this is our neighborhood. But there’s a lot to love about The Dunes Community on Sanibel.
Why Did We Choose The Dunes on Sanibel?
When we first moved to Sanibel Island, I was still commuting back and forth from Miami where my software business was located. Susan and I were attracted to east-end Sanibel communities for the easy access to the Causeway bridge because of this.
We also loved that the community had nearby nature trails to explore, the community pool to use (with membership), and even the tennis camps offered for kids. Our family has utilized all of these things and more over the past decade!
The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club
I should note that just because you own a property in The Dunes Community on Sanibel, doesn’t mean you have to become a member of the Golf & Tennis Club. We know neighbors who don’t have a membership, some have a short-term membership to use just when they are here, others have the full sports package, and some have just the social membership as we do!

We have been impressed with the facilities, the food at the restaurant, the beauty of the golf course and grounds, and the friendly staff who operate the club. We’ve attended many social events including weddings and anniversaries, and have even hosted our kid’s birthday parties here at the pool.
Which Beach Do We Use?
Good question! We often ride our bikes over to Bailey Beach at the end of Bailey Road. I’ve captured some amazing sunrises over the causeway bridge at this location. If we want to enjoy the Gulf-side beaches, we can either bike or drive to the Lighthouse or to one of the Sanibel residential beach parking pass lots. Homes For Sale in The Dunes Community
In the Dunes, there are mostly single-family homes, but also a few 1/2 duplexes. I’d go out on a limb to say that every property has a great view either of the golf course, a lake or pond, or lush sanctuary land that surrounds the neighborhood.
