The daily afternoon rain showers are a reminder that Summer is here! Our kids only have a few days left in the school year, so you know what they means – it’s time for Sanibel Summer Camps to ramp up! Here’s a look at this year’s Summer camp programs on island.
Sanibel Summer Camps 2019
BIG ARTS – Summer Arts Camp offers a fun, unique, and well-rounded program of visual and performing arts for 1st – 5th graders, and also an apprentice program for 6th-12th graders. The camps runs 6-weeks long, starting June 11 and ending July 27. Click here for more information and registration forms.
Sanibel Recreation Department – The City of Sanibel offers a traditional 8-week “Summer Day Camp” for students grades K-8, which will run June 3 through August 2. Campers will participate in swimming, arts and crafts, athletics, and a variety of games. Click here to register and find more information.
The Sea School – This sea-focused camp is geared toward campers ages 6 – 13, although there are a few age-specific weeks for students as young as 4 and as old as 18. This year, the Sea School offers Summer Camps in three locations, the Flagship Campus on Sanibel, the Sundial Resort on Sanibel, and the Canterbury School in Fort Myers. The Captiva Island Yacht Club – The Junior Sailing Camp is held at Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island. The summer sailing program is intended for youth ages 8 to 15, with the 1st Session in mid-June and 2nd Session in mid-July. Each Session will have 1 certified instructor, 1 assistant instructor with 2 trained counselors and between 10 and 12 students. Registration deadline is June 1st, click here for more information.
The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club – Junior Summer Golf & Tennis Camp will be held Tuesday – Thursday during the weeks of June 4 – June 27. Clinics run 3 days a week, 8:00am-10:30am, for ages 6-14. Email info@blackwoodtennis.com for more information, or call 472-3522.
The Sanibel Community Church – Miraculous Mission “Jesus Saves the World” is the theme of this year’s Vacation Bible School, held June 3rd-7th at the church. Children ages 3 through 5th grade are welcome to join from 4:00-7:15pm for music, games, crafts, projects, mission, bible story time and dinner. Ding Darling – While there are no official supervised Sanibel Summer Camps for kids at the Refuge, the Ding Darling Society does have a number of free programs and activities for the whole family. Click here to see what’s on the Summer schedule for June 5 – August 3, 2019.
Don’t forget about other local activities such as the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, Tarpon Bay Explorers, or The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum (reopens July 5th, 2019). Even if you have already visited these attractions, there are always new exhibits and fun memories to make with the family.
