Perks of living on an island: You can see sunrise and sunset!
I’m often asked, “Where to Watch The Sunset on Sanibel Island?” Our blog lists a number of great options. But, rarely am I asked about where to watch the sunrise! While I don’t catch as many sunrises as I do sunsets, both are equally beautiful benefits of living on Sanibel Island.
Where To Watch The Sunrise on Sanibel
Obviously, the sun rises from the east, so the east end of the island is where you’ll want to catch a good sunrise. Here are my top three favorite spots:
- Lighthouse Beach
- The Causeway
- Bailey Beach
Where To Watch The Sunset on Sanibel
In contrast, the west end of Sanibel or even Captiva Island is the best place to watch the sunset. Here are my top three favorite spots:
- Resident-only parking pass lots along West Gulf Drive
- Bowman’s Beach
- Blind Pass

Sunsets on the Gulf
Want to see the sun sink directly into the Gulf? Your best bet might be to get out on the water to see the sun sink into the water. Though, depending on the time of year and your location on island, you can see it from land as well.
If you don’t have your own means of getting on the water, try one of our local sunset charters! We’re happy to share our recommendations. Shoot us a message at team@mccallionrealty.com or call us at 239.472.1950.
